Solved: boot manager

I was entering info when I realized I was missing some info. I left my comp on as I went to get this info by telephone. I was gone for about an hour. when I returned I found that my comp had turned of and was trying to reboot. I figured that something was trying to update? the boot had stopped in midcourse with the message ( NTLDR is missing ) I had no idea what NTLDR stood for! I got out my win 7 disk, booted into repair mode, and about two hours later finally got it fixed! During this time repair said the Boot Manager was missing or corrupt. I was able to get it fixed but I would like to know what LTNDR stands for, and how my box was able to attempt to reboot by itself? Would appreciate any info, so I do not have to spend 2 hours trying to fix it again. Thank you!
