Readers of TSG who may be unaware as I was, of the value of Malwarebytes' software may benefit from this public "thank you".
Another useful software, Spybot, let me know of two browser snoopers, but it was not able to rid me of them. I went to my registry and removed all references to one but did not find the other. I did not do a hard-drive search, which would have been a better starting point - in retrospect.
I ran Malwarebytes Antimalware, but it did not find the two snoopers I sent an email to support and asked why another program found them but Malwarebytes' did not.
I received a prompt reply informing me that the snoopers were not viruses or malware, but if I wished to remove such unwanted spies I might try a program that it linked me to.
I tried it. Not only did it remove the two snoopers but many others. Afterwards, my browser was far more responsive, and I have not experienced any disadvantages. It did remove a toolbar, which I did not need in any case.
So a big THANK YOU to Malwarebytes and thanks, too, to Spybot.
