Hi, I hope you can help me with this problem.
Sometimes I like to open certain files with programs that are different than the default of its file type (for example: .jpg with paint to edit it), and the way to do that is to right click the item and click Open with and then choose from the list of programs that it gives you. Now, for whatever reason, Google Chrome (my default web browser) has gotten onto a lot of Open with lists, so I went into the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\File Exts) and deleted it from the file extensions that I don't want it to be in, such as .jpg, .avi, .bmp, and many more like those, after which it obviously didn't show up in the list anymore. The problem is that very often it comes back into the lists of some file types, so I delete it again, and it goes away until the next time it comes back, and so on and so forth. I don't know why it keeps on coming back to certain file types (not all), and what I could do to make it NEVER come back, which is what's supposed to happen when I delete the Chrome key from a file type in the registry, and in fact it is that way for some file types but not all. It's very strange.
My PC is a Windows Vista.
All help, suggestions and assistance is welcomed and appreciated, and I thank you in advance!
