Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3, 32 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1.80GHz, x86 Family 15 Model 1 Stepping 3
Processor Count: 1
RAM: 765 Mb
Graphics Card: Intel(R) 82845G/GL Graphics Controller, 48 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 58635 MB, Free - 11602 MB;
Motherboard: TriGem Computer, Inc., Imperial
Antivirus: avast! Antivirus, Updated: Yes, On-Demand Scanner: Enabled
On Friday 29 November, Avast! prompted me to upgrade their program to version 9. Since then, it has been virtually impossible to load webpages. I do have a connection to ISP, the URL appears to be resolved correctly, but they just don't load.
I contacted Avast! tech support, and they told me to uninstall their program with a utility provided, then reinstall Avast!. This made no difference.
It makes no difference whether I use Firefox (current version) or Internet Explorer; neither does it matter whether the add-ons are switched on or off in Firefox. Disabling the Windows Firewall does not make any difference either.
As I cannot access the WWW on the XP-computer, I am currently on another machine.
