One of my two RAID arrays does not show up in Windows. Here is a quick description:
I have two WD drives (drives 0 and 1) set in RAID1 being used for Windows and a few other partitions. This array shows up and allows me to boot into Windows more or less normally (see below). I have two other Hitachi drives (drives 2 and 3) set in RAID1 which is not recognized at all by Windows. This array contained, among other things, my media files. I was actually in the process of listening to music supplied by this array when the song playing suddenly stopped and the media player claimed none of the music was at the destination. At this point I realized that this entire array was not being displayed in Windows Explorer or in Disk Management.
The BIOS recognizes two arrays and four storage devices.
The RAID boot utility states: "RIAD1 set is in Sync state - an improper shutdown has been detected so a rebuild will occur to ensure data integrity." Going into the RAID utility, it detects no conflicts and cannot rebuild either array. It shows the first array (WD drives 0 and 1) in "sync" state and the second array in "current" state. This message continues to come up each time I reboot the computer.
Windows now hangs for quite some time just prior to displaying the desktop. Also, oddly enough, Firefox seems to think that is has crashed every time I open it and will only start in safe mode. I am assuming these symptoms are all related somehow.
There are no drive errors according to checkdisk and I'm not sure what else I can try.
Suggestions?
