although what many of these companies is doing is 100% legal, is it moral & right or is it a short sighted view from the company for quick profits by cutting costs of workers?

My view is that it is extremely short-sighted. When a company employs imported foreign workers for "limited" time contract, a high proportion of the money will be sent back to Poland/Romania or wherever and not spent in UK or with the company concerned.

When UK workers are employed, they spend the money in UK & very frequently with the company itself.

Take Tesco for example. They have closed the local distribution centre in Harlow & moved to a brand new one in Dagenham. Most of the staff wouldn't transfer because they would lose up to £10,000 per year in wages due to new working patterns & travel costs.

Those several hundred workers, that are now without jobs, will not shop in Tesco due to lack of money & disgust with the company. Once their family & friends are taken into account who also boycott or buy reduced amounts in Tesco, then Tesco's profits fall even more, resulting in even more cuts & even more profit drop.

The majority of workers at the new distribution depot in Dagenham are alleged to be "foreign imports", not even local residents of Dagenham & Barking area.

While the companies are so short sighted, the recession in UK will continue & will get worse.
