Updating Google Chrome

Dear Friends,

I do hope that this does not seem to be a silly question !! Although Internet Explorer 10 is my main browser I am using Google Chrome much more than in the past. However my query relates to Updates.

It appears that Google Chrome updates automatically when it detects a new version. For other updates I checked the Help page and it says that updates are available when the "Chrome Menu on the browser changes to either green,orange or red". To apply the updates it says :- 1. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar. 2. Select Update Google Chrome. 3. Information regarding Restart etc.

My problem is I cannot find or do not recognise "The Chrome Menu on the browser toolbar" When I load Chrome, on the page I have :- A search box / A horizontal list of bookmarks / A star icon to bookmark the page / Three horizontal black lines which lead to Customise and Control, but no browser toolbar with a menu.

Sorry to be such a pain but can any kind person put me on the straight and narrow !
