Who fancies a challenge?

My fiancé's sister has passed me her laptop as it won't connect to the internet (it can't find any networks - no matter what I try). The windows help and support centre won't open, neither will the security centre, which makes me think virus. I've had a bit of a play about and have run the anti virus, but haven't gotten anywhere. In short, I haven't got a clue what's up with it.
