JVC Radio erases presets when radio is turned off.

I have a JVC boombox that seems to work fine, but when the radio is turned on, all of the presets have been erased. I think the presets are saved before it is turned off, and the radio stays plugged into an electrical outlet. I have tried unplugging the radio for ten seconds and trying it again, but that did not seem to work. I would appreciate some advice on how to fix this issue.
