Ethernet cable to downstairs

Hi

I have just bought an ethernet cable to run from upstairs - downstairs because NETGEAR wireless adapters drop out repeatedly.

Here is my setup downstairs…… Broadband box – Virgin Media router – Netgear wireless router – downstairs pc

The upstairs pc is connected to the netgear wireless router by way of the wireless adapter.

I have now unplugged the adapter and connected the upstairs pc to the wireless router downstairs by the ethernet cable.

I can’t find the network or access the internet upstairs.

Why?
