I've never owned one, but I'm thinkng of getting one. My question is this:
To my understanding, a laser beam burns text into the paper, which means no extra costs (such as ink carts). However, everywhere I see them sold online, they also have replacement "toner" carts. What are these mysterious toner carts and why do I need them? Can't a laser printer "just work" without needing extras?
