Hello,
I'm using an older computer. The freezes are happening with greater regularity, and last for longer intervals. I have tried twice to purchase additional RAM from people who recommended the RAM I need. Both times, the machine won't boot. I notice the installed RAM (below) seems low; I have 2 x 512 MB DIMM modules.
I've followed numerous tutorials whose aim is to free up resources. Those changes have not made things noticeably better, bugt they haven't made things worse, either. Sometimes, my system stays frozen for a couple or 3 minutes, sometimes for considerably longer, and sometimes, I have to shut down, and reboot.
I'm not sure where to start, and I'm thinking it might be a good idea to follow the suggestions of fewer people, or at least people who can see what else has been suggested. I'll be extremely grateful fo any help that gets me pointed in the right direction.
