Forced a shutdown EEE PC will not now start

Hi, on resuming from sleep, I closed the lid, my EEE PC x101ch had frozen. I forced a shut-down by holding the power button down, now it will not start up. After pushing the power button the computer sounds normal - for a few seconds, the fan runs, the hard disk appears to start up then stops, the light for the disk flashes a few times then goes out, the wifi light stays on, but nothing else.

Having read other posts I took out the power lead and battery and held down the power button for a minute or so, no luck. Pushed repeatedly on F9 with no response. Removed the CMOS battery for a few minutes, no luck. I've now read that reseating cables, RAM etc might help. That's my next step but iirc the RAM is soldered onto the board.
If it were the RAM that's causing the problem is there any way to test it insitu? How easy is it to replace, I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron.

Any other suggestions? I have some pictures on it of my grand-daughter's 4th birthday party in Disney! We have others but mine are better!
