Cant open attachments in att. yahoo mail.

I have Windows xp sp3. Google Chrome. For the last couple of days... I have been unable to open attachments that were sent to me via email.
I never had the problems before. When I click to open... it says its scanning ... and then nothing happens.
Any ideas ???
