Greetings. I recently updated from Windows 8 to 8.1. I was checking through all my software to see if they were working properly after the update and everything is fine except for Autodek 3DSMAX 2013 which failed to open. It just got stuck on the loading screen for more than 10 minutes. I tried to repair the installation but it would not let me while giving the following message about 'monitor.exe'. It would not let me uninstall or install another version of 3dsmax. The same message pops up no matter how much I click on 'ok'.

I have gone through many forums and googled the issue and the most common solution is to close 'monitor.exe' through task manager. That solution has worked for many people but my issue is I cannot find it in task manager either. When I run the task 'monitor.exe', it opens Autodesk Backburner. I tried uninstalling Backburner but it gives the same error.. The frustrating thing is I know the solution but it just does not appear in Task Manager for me to attempt to close. Any suggestions?
I don't want to roll back Windows 8.1 or do a system restore as I'm from Srilanka and my internet service has a download quota and I don't want to download the OS again.
