Flash drive as HDD

I recently received a dell computer from my brother with no hard drive. i then downloaded windows 7 from dream spark and extracted the iso files.i then formatted two flash drives to NTFS and placed the extracted iso files onto the 14 GB flash drive and im trying to use the 64 GB as a external hard drive for the time being, until i get a new hdd. the computer starts fine and i get to bios and run the boot sequence off of the 14 GB flash drive to install windows 7, however when i start the installation it asks "where do you want to install windows?" and my 64 GB flash drive is not coming up. i looked up if i could manually download the drivers for it with no luck. is the driver my problem? should i reformat my 64 GB flash drive? if so what should i format it to? can i even accomplish what im trying to do here, or will the computer not read the flash drive regardless?
