retrieving emails

Hi, I am using windows XP and Outlook Express. I booted up my computer, opened Outlook Express and saw that I had some e-mails, but before I could read them my computer had a glitch and shut down. I rebooted and went to Outlook Express, but those e-mails had disappeared, not in the deleted box either. How can I retrieve these e-mails. My server cannot see them either.
