Local Area Connection (Network Cable Unplugged)

Hi, im new to this website because recently my laptop has been totally reinstalled and I cannot seem to connect to the internet. Im not exactly sure what info I need posted so please respond to tell me :). When I go to Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network Connections it shows only one connection which is my Local Area Connection which right below it state Network Cable Unplugged. I am currently using an older laptop.

Connect Using: JMicron PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
