Fedora LXDE seems to support only 1 nic

Hi,

I just installed Fedora LXDE Spin 19. I have 2 network cards in the machine. When I do a ifconfig, it only shows that I have a "em1" and "lo". Don't know what em1 stands for, but it is not eth0 and eth1 anymore. So I went to Preferences > Network Connections, and setup 2 network connections. Rebooted, And still ifconfig will only show em1 and lo. Additionally, in the systray there is this networking icon, which I can single click to show the network connections, Ethernet Connection 1 is highlighted while Ethernet Connection 2 is dimmed. That and the ifconfig results leads me to conclude that only 1 nic can be active at a time. Is this true ? I have 2 nics because I use one for snort, and one for regular web access and updates. The one used for snort is connected to a mirror/span port on the switch which can't do outbound access. The other nic is connected to a normal port and used to fetch updates for the machine. Can someone explain this ?
