dban (dban.org) erases hard disks completely leaving no trace. but it says it is for windows os's. i don't understand how it can be for a windows os ONLY if it is erasing a hard disk.
i know with ubuntu you don't have to worry about viruses unless you accidentally download them, but if someone was on my computer via tracing my ip address and getting on my computer remotely (not thru downloaded virus).... even though i had the ubuntu firewall on...........
1- is it possible they could have download something/ virus/ something else/ onto my computer without me knowing it, that will let them get back on my computer even if i use a different ip address?
2- if there was a virus or something put onto my ubuntu os, would running DBAN make it disappear or would dban only affect the part of the hard disk that contained windows os?
3- how reliable is it to reload ubuntu and have any potential virus/ malware, etc. erased?
i know that is a lot!
thanks - it's important!!!!!!!!!
