Make Linux "Host" running multiple VM's

I'm considering the possibility of making my Win8 machine "virtual", and then replace the physical OS with Centos Linux, and run the Win8 (along with 3 other VM's that I currently run; total of 4 VM's) in a VM under Linux, using VMWare Workstation. I have the software to do this already.

Right now the only thing that's keeping me from making the full switch is that I need iTunes to sync/backup my iPad, and I use BitCasa to backup/sync files - neither app has a Linux client that I can use (although Bitcasa is working on one).

And then, of course, I have questions about the logistics of the conversion.

My Win8 machine has two physical hard drives, 500gb C: and 2tb D:, both NTFS. I have two file shares on D: (share1 and share2), and my current VM's are on the D: drive. I'd like to leave the D: drive untouched (at least for now).

Here's my plan - let me know if there's a better way to do this:
1. Convert Win8 to a VM. Save VM file(s) to D: drive where other VM's are stored.
2. Disconnect D: drive from system and install Centos on C: drive
3. Reinstall D: drive, configure to automount
4. Install VMWare Workstation and install/configure all VM's
5. Configure Samba for file shares
6. Configure iPad to "hard attach" to the Win8 VM so I can continue to sync/update the iPad.

From what I can see, this should be a simple (yet time consuming) process. But I have a feeling that I'm missing something. Any advice on what to check for before/during/after a switch like this?

Thanks in advance!
