I have a Samsung SyncMaster SA350 monitor that only has 1 HDMI input. So, I purchased an HDMI switch to share the monitor between my laptop and desktop. It was a cheap switch I got on Amazon, and it worked until I purchased an Asus N5VJ laptop. The switch would allow the desktop to display on the monitor, but this new laptop would not display at all. I read online that the switch had to be compliant with some standard, and I purchased a high-end switch that ostensibly was compliant. However, this switch works even worse than the cheap one; it will not display the laptop, and the desktop display is spotty. I tried switching HDMI cables, etc. Exactly what do I need to do to fix this?
