Hey Guys,
In this last Windows Update Cycle For Windows XP, I am getting three updates that install fine with no error messages or anything like that, but they keep popping up in the System tray as needing to be installed when they are already installed. This last cycle showed 14 updates and I Auto Udate every Monday Morning@ 1 am through Automatic Updates.
I accidentally hit Turn Off and the 14 updates installed (Took about 10 minutes.) Rebooted, and noticed that there were three updates that still needed to be installed. Over the years, this can happen when MS needs some updates to install first before other updates can be applied. The three updates are:
Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB2810048)
Security Update for MS Office 2007 (KB2760588)
Security Updaate for MS Office 2007 (KB27601411)
No mater if I click the update shield in the System Tray, or go to MS Update to install, MS server keeps downloading these three patches all the time. I rebooted about 3-4 times and they are downloaded again and again, and again. Since these are two different programs, could MS have released a bad patch, since they are no longer doing the type of quality control for Windows XP because of its age?
The other thing is that during the reboots, MS Security Essentials kept saying it was Off in the System Tray, I ran CC Cleaner and rebooted, and that stopped the problem with MSE. But those three patches are still showing up. The computer itself works fine is fast and slick, there are no noted error messages of any kind. It's just that after I install the above patches, within minutes after rebooting, MS is saying. "Hey, you don't have these patches!" I wanted to post the numbers for the patches in case anyone else has trouble with this recent update.
I should also mention that I have MS Office 2003, Student Teacher Edition and the Office 2007 File Compatibility Converter. We will see what happens Monday Morning@ 1am with these updates.
