I got FTM 2012 in July and I have had and am having lots of trouble. It's slower than molasses. When I edit a person, it creates a new person and doesn't maintain relationships such as children. If I access an Ancestry.com hint, it gives me no way to ignore the hint (I swear it did when I first started using it). I have talked with support but they are less than helpful; they refer me to u-tube videos but won't tell me how to find info on my specific problem. One piece of 'advice' they gave me was to DISABLE MY ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM (!) because that sometimes causes problems. Early on, they had me uninstall and re-install the program but that didn't solve anything.
Based on my limited knowledge and experience, it occurred to me that maybe I need to increase the available RAM for this program , but I can't figure out how to do that in WIN7.
On my desktop and taskbar a very suspicious icon is superimposed over the FTM icon... it's the Microsoft blue and yellow shield. I never saw that before. Also, whenever I open FTM I get a Microsoft window (with the shield) asking, 'Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?' I thought I fixed that once, but obviously not.
