I'm paying my phone company (Frontier) $6.99 plus tax each month for the modem/router they supplied. They have told me I can return it and use my own (without tech support, of course). This is what I have: Netgear 7550 DSL Modem/router Combo Wireless Adsl2+ Frontier B90-755044-15 4port. Not knowing a lot about DSL, what concerns me is the last part of the description, which seems to indicate there's something special about the unit that's unique to Frontier, raising the possibility (in my mind anyway) that someone else's modem might not work. Or is this just a "regular" modem that happens to have Frontier's name on it??
