Problem with Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

Hello

My HP G-62-452SA notebook has developed a problem with its WiFi adapter since yesterday. No issues till then since I bought it a couple of years back.

The wireless connection started dropping or go into 'limited connectivity' mode. Disabling/enabling the adapter would restore the connectivity but it kept losing immediately after starting the browser (IE or Firefox). Whenever it lost connectivity, the problem was only local to the laptop as other devices in the house could access the internet without any trouble even when this laptop was saying 'No internet access' or 'No network access' or 'Limited connectivity'. There is no issue with the wired connection on this laptop.

Some sites suggested updating the driver which I did from HP's support site. However it was not successful and this caused problem in starting the device "RALINK RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter" - it gave error code(10) in the status/property box. I tried restoring the system to a previous date which helped making the device visible in device manager but the original issue remained.

At present, the WiFi adapter is not even visible in the device manager and the scan for new hardware is not detecting the WiFi adapter. So the situation is worse than what it was at the start!

My router is TP Link and currently I can access the internet through wired connection. I tried changing the IPV4(TCP/IP) configuration for the WiFi adapter as initially I thought the loss of connectivity could be due to IP conflict. It had been set to manual IP selection all this while and it did not help changing it to obtain IP automatically. For wired connection it is set to obtain the IP automatically and it works.

Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated. Below is the system info; please let me know I need to provide any further details.

Many thanks.
