About 2 or 3 weeks ago, my notebook started acting a bit strange. When it would go to sleep after certain time had lapsed, or when I would close it to make it sleep, it would act as though I had pulled the cord and popped the battery out. It says that the operating system did not shut down properly. When it finally boots up and I log in, the date and time are set for 2300 on 31 Dec 2008. Sometimes when I go to synch the clock with the Microsoft site, it freezes and won't respond to anything. Other times it says that there was an error. I have also noticed that the wireless icon is not visible, though there is a space there. Sometimes the display screen dims as though I'm running on battery power, yet the cord is plugged in. When I take the cord out, the display brightens as though it is running on the charger. This quickly kills the battery. I tried restoring to a previous point in mid-July before all this started happening and nothing changed. I noticed the earliest restore point is 1 Jan 2009, which is interesting considering the time and date it boots to when it has this problem is exactly 1 hour before that. Please help! This is incredibly frustrating.
