DVD Rom/Blu ray/Cd burner Keeps popping open for no reason

I have an HP ENVY 17.3 Laptop 8gb memory - 1tb hard drive (best buy sku 7703074).

Today my dvd rom/cd tray just started popping open at random. Every time I close it a few seconds/minutes later it does it again.

I don't know why it started doing it today. The only thing that I can think of is that I updated last night.

I am not very proficient with Windows 8. I looked in Update history , but I didn't see anything in the last couple of days???

I can't seem to find out what version of windows/bios I am running.

I went into control panel - system security - system and all I can find is:

Windows 8
system
rating: 5.9 Windows Experience index
Processor Intel(r) Core (TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
Installed memory (RAM) 8.00 GB (7.89 GB usuable)
System type: 64 - bit Operating System, x64 based processor
Pen and Touch: No Pen or touch input is available for this display

HELP!!!!!

I did find this:

I went into HP Support Assistant and found under completed items:

HP PC HARDWARE DIAGNOSTICS UEFI

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI provides UEFI based hardware diagnostics used to validate if a system is functioning correctly. Additional support is provided for updating and managing the system BIOS and other device firmware on the system

SoftPaq number: SP62405 Version: 5.2.4.0Ap1 Size 3.3MB

I ran spyware program and updated again.

I restarted and it popped open again....this time in conjunction with a quick disappearing message about usb device not recognized. That just happened once. All the other times that it popped open, it did not show that message.
