Cannot connect to internet on Vista

Since last few days i cannot connect to internet through my visat. The error message is " 'the dependency service or group failed to start" with no INTERNET and i tried directly using the ethernet without router but still to avail. The services.msc option is set to automatic but still when i click on start it gives me error 5
I tried few steps available on some of the forums, but did not work.
I have tried so far the following;
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
sfc /scannow
system restore is not working.
i have still 12 GB of diskspace left on my laptop



Luckily i had a dual boot with ubuntu which works fine and the internet connection is available. Only with my Windows Vista home premium i cannot connect to internet.
I am totally illiterate in computers and i dont know any thing.

My internet was running fine until i got this message from the network and sharing.
Is there any hope for me?
