Belkin N Wireless Help!

So I am in between a rock and a hard place right now. I have a Toshiba Laptop running Windows 7 and a Belkin N Wireless Router Model F5D8236. Now up until recently everything was going great until I realized someone had changed the wifi password (probably on accident) but they cant remember what it is and neither can I so now I need to go ahead reset the password. I followed the basic reset information and got to where I can open the control panel for the router and then when I reset it keeps giving me the error that I am not connected to the internet. But I am lost as to how I can reconnect. I have the router connected to the modem (Havent changed anything connected) Now I dont know what to do
