Unable to Taxi to the runway in Flt. Sim x

I am using Windows7 and when I execute the Pull Back command(Shift P) the aircraft is pulled back from the parking spot but when I try to taxi to the Allocated runway the aircraft moves backwards and does not respond to the turn command from the joystick. If I cheat a little and taxi to the runway and get permission to take off without getting pulled back,I am then given a list of take-off instructions followed by 2 choices, Land again or touch and go, neither of which are satisfactory. My joystick is normally working fine and the program has been deleted and reloaded in the hope that is all it needed Can anyone please assist..................Pebbles
