Problems with Win7 Home Premium

I have a HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC with Win7 Home Premium,AlMD A4-3305 APU with Radeon HD Grapics 1.9 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 64-bit OS. I have two major problems with this computer.
1] IE10 does not functionproperly. Clicking on links, even usingCtrl/Click does not open the link, either in the same window or in a differentwindow. Tool/IE Options/General/Tabs – When a new tab is opened, open: The new tab page; and, Open links from other programs in: (X) A new window – both are set as indicated. In order to open the link I must copy it and paste it into a new browser or into the same browser's address bar. How can this be rectified?

2] both Hearts and Freecell no longer open when their desktop icon is selected. What can be done to correct this problem?
