Computer Internet Connection Issues!

Recently we had an extreme lightning storm, which fried two of our televisions. We believe it not to be a power surge, but that the lightning itself struck so close to the house that it grounded itself in the televisions that were on and fried the circuit boards.

Now we believe that none of the computers were "harmed" during this awful series of storms. However... i am left with this scenario. Bear with me, and if you have any questions to receive more information please ask and i will love to answer then, because this is a strange situation.

Computer 1 cannot connect/recognize my router. It shows no response to being plugged into the router by ethernet cable. Computer 1 however CAN connect directly to the modem via ethernet cable, and recognizes it. When plugged into the modem Computer 1's internet connection works as normal. Strangely enough, Computer 2 can connect flawlessly to both the router AND the modem. Computer 2 recognizes both the router when connected, and the modem. Why might it be that computer 1 cannot connect to our router?

FYI; -We have tested ethernet cables. Changing computer 1's ethernet cable had absolutely no effect. It still discovered the modem but not the router. A bad cable i believe to be out of the situation.
-We have a basic DSL modem which is connected directly to the line that comes into the house. From the modem, we connect the router, which allows us to connect up to 4 devices via ethernet ports. We have changed up the ports, and computeer 2 has no problem connecting to any of the ports, and computer 1 still cannot recognize a connection no matter which port it has been connected to.

If anyone can help, or give me a few ideas of what to troubleshoot, i would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou so very much!!
-Joe
