Firefox startup

I have wanted to run Firefox for many years but every time I try, the program always starts with an endless parade of ads and pages of instructions that I do not want or need. Because of this, I always end up returning to Internet Explorer.

Is there a way to start this program up like Internet Explorer where you start it and can immediately start a search?
