Strange proxy attack

Hi, basically I was doing my usual morning internet browsing while talking with a friend on Skype when all of a sudden my connection starting dropping constantly. My first reflex was opening a webpage to see if I was the problem and after typing google.ca I was redirected to a weird website attempting me to sell me stuff. So I thought what happened?" and tried to browse to another website to see if all websites were being redirected or only google. I entered whatismyip.org for one, and it told me my IP was 56.something.something.something, which was extremely far from my actual IP (24.something.something.something), after this last page firefox froze, I got a warning pop-up, AD-Blocker told me I was being redirected and asked me if I wanted it to fix it, and it did apparently because I wasn't being redirected anymore. It also told me to update my flash player ASAP (Something, I admit, I hadn't done in a couple of months now, stupid me). So I uninstalled the previous version and I did.

So after that I did the basic steps, I ran Spybot, it found nothing. I ran Avira AV, it also found nothing, I checked my services list, nothing new, neither did msconfig or the host file have anything in them. All my proxy settings were on default or no proxy.

So it basically came as suddenly as it left and I am not one to believe that Adblocker managed to kill off all traces of the virus just like that, so I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of virus this is and what I could do to make sure there are absolutely no traces left?
