New computer wifi problem......Either 4 bars or Off??

We bought a second computer, a new HP desktop. The main computer is in our office with the new one in a bedroom. We have a two story house and all other wifi connected items like netflix, security cameras, etc. work all over the house. I even get good wifi reception outside too.

The wifi setup went pretty seamlessly on the new HP computer, but now that we are connected to the main household network, the computer wifi/internet connection on the new computer is either at 4 bars (4 bars out of 5), or it goes off entirely. Pretty frustrating to be downloading something needed like itunes and it's downloading full blast and all the sudden the internet connection just drops. Laptop computers or tablets in the same room as the new computer do not have this issue. They have 4 bars all the time with no droppage. Its just the new HP desktop. I have a "guest" user setting too that when used on this new HP computer has the same issue.....4 bars, then after about 10 minutes it drops off.
I am thinking it might be something to do with the settings on the new computer, but not sure where to change things?

Things I have tried:
1. The powersaving and screensaver settings - all are set to put all to sleep after 1 hour.
2. The home network was added using the right password.
3. The router is fairly new and the modem too.
4. It makes no difference if all other wifi connected items are being used at the same time or not.
5. At all times day or night, the same issues. Even at 2, 3, or 4 in the morning. (I tried all night thinking it might be a overusage issue in our neighborhood) I'm pretty sure I was the only one using the internet in the middle of the night experimenting with this wifi issue.

Can't think of anything else. Any ideas on what I should do next?
I don't want to use a wifi extender because I have heard it slows everything down a lot. And I hate to move the router to the new computer because the wifi works fine all over our two story house (except for this one downstairs bedroom).
