Consistently Freezing Pages

For about the last 10 days using the latest version of Firefox, I consistently get frozen (locked) on pages while surfing the internet. As a result, I have to resort to Ctr+Alt+Delete to bring up Task Mgr and kill the offending site page.Is there any fix that would eliminate the problem and relieve my growing frustration? Please help and you'll earn my undying gratitude.
