I am completely stumped on what the cause of this issue could possibly be.
Our business currently has a HP Laserjet 1212nf MFP which is networked and runs properly on currently set up machines. However, I am now attempting to connect another computer to the printer. I use the same driver on a networked share that I always use for these types of printers. The driver was unable to automatically detect the printer nor was it able to connect when I provided the IP address. Weird. I then uninstall the driver and attempt an updated driver from the HP website. Same issue. I then attempted to add the printer to another computer. Failed with both drivers. I then attempted to remove another printer of the same type on the other computer and re-added it with the driver without a problem. I then used windows 7 "add printer" feature... both machines added the printer without a problem. Now I am frustrated.
However, windows lacks the features that the driver provides so I would prefer to utilize that. I then re-image the machine to see if corruption may have occurred. The driver fails both times but windows 7 succeeds without any issues.
At this point, I am considering re-installing the firmware on the printer or buying a new one. Unfortunately, it is out of warranty and now I am extremely curious as to what is causing the problem.
I posted here because HP will only try to sell me a service package or a new printer.
