New RAM not working... all help/advice appreciated

Hi,

Over recent months the 4gig RAM in my PC has been showing signs of being too limited so I was advised to get the following new set of RAM:
http://www.ebuyer.com/370069-corsair...16gx3m2a1333c9

On installing it the PC starts, gets to the opening screen advising it is 'ASUS' etc, and then shuts down... pauses a few seconds, and then tries to open again. This process continues over and over.

I have tried one stick on its own, different slots & for both different sticks, but no joy. I've been advised that it might be to do with the 'clocking speed'(?) so I might need to change in BIOS- I'm and old guy and not too IT literate so not sure what this is, what it does, or what it means.

Unfortunately, even if I could do this, I am unable to because as soon as it gets to the point where it accepts F10, the PC shuts down as before.
- looking at forums I have read that changing the speed on old RAM for new RAM to be put in might not be healthy anyway.

All and any advice/help appreciated. I'm thinking of taking into a shop for them to sort but, if at all possible, I would rather save the much needed cash- it seems on the face of it a simple task, so am hoping it proves to be so.
