Power failure

Recently we had a upcoming storm so I unplugged the computer from the wall outlet. The next day when I plugged
it in, there was a loud sound as if an electrical breaker tripped. Now I have nothing and the power led light is off. My question is, if the power shut down, did it not go into the Mthd ? And if not, should I try replacing the power
module ? Need some advise before proceeding. OS XP SP3
