Ive got a presario CQ57 laptop with windows 7. When i start it up it goes to a black screen asking to launch startup repair (recommended) or to start windows normally. When i do the repair option it just goes to a blank blue screen that looks like my background screen. It now says its checking for problems and that my computer will automatically fix any problem and its got a training status bar and has been doing this for 4 hours now. It gives me the option to cancel it but im afraid to cancel it because im hoping its fixing my laptop. PLEASE HELP ME!! Ive tried to start it normally and it goes back to this error screen. Ive done the F8 thing at the start and ive tried everything. I really need help! im stuck. I cant do anything...

Solved: Programs stuck in System Tray / Background
Hey all!
A few days ago I noticed that for some reason one of the programs I use fairly often (Battle.net platform) wasn't opening when I clicked on it. After a quick search I found it hiding in the System Tray of my computer... but, no matter what I tried I couldn't get it open (Right clicking, double clicking, using the Task Manager, running it as an admin, none of it worked). At first it didn't bother me that much, I found ways around not using that program but this issue has been popping up a lot more in the last few days. Because of this I've been unable to run/start League of Legends, and also my Adobe Flash Updater. When searching for those they would always appear in the "Background processes" of my Task Manager, but no matter what I do, they wont open.
Any help would be appreciated! If you need any additional info just say so

Windows Live Mail won't save or remember passwords
Hello,
Last week my Windows Live Mail started prompting for passwords of all of my accounts every time I open the program. It doesn't retain them, so it prompts for them every time I need to check email. I have Windows 7.
I've tried Tools, Accounts, and re-entering each username and password, making sure the Remember Password box is checked.

Black screen with video drivers

Asus Formula VI w/ UPDATED BIOS
i7 4790k @ stock w/ fan capable of cooling Venus
GTX 780 ti SC
16g @ 2400
512g ssd + 1T storage

Alrighty friends, I've been stumped. After some epic DayZ with the friends (as I have been for the passed week without issues), my game crashed upon closing. This is super, super common with everyone. It happens more than half the time to any given player. However, this time, my screen went black. So I restarted and noticed my bios wasn't at the correct resolution (Sure looked like 800x600) and the windows logo and spin circles were awfully fuzzy. The next screen that would appear would be the welcoming windows 8 / 8.1 log in screen. However, I get no signal / black screen. I tend to use Geforce Experience to install drivers.
I can boot in safe mode and picture is fine (as fine as it can be in safe mode). I uninstalled ALL nvidia drivers and ALL intel drivers manually and with DDU. I've also disabled windows auto updater so it doesn't try and install that stupid driver it likes by itself (which also causes people issues). Upon re-installation the screen goes black 1/9-ish the way through on the slow moving loading bar. I tend to use Geforce Experience to install drivers.
I'm really at a loss here. Any ideas?
Please note: The only cable I have at my disposal at the moment is an HD connector from the GPU (DVI) to my monitor (HDMI). On board video doesn't support this cable with my monitor, thus I can only see through my graphics card (even if seeing on-board video / igpu, it's through my card).

Triple monitor setup
Hi,
Im trying to setup eyefinity. Windows can see my 3rd monitor but AMD CCC cant. Set up is as follows...
HDMI (actual DVI cable with adapter)
DVI
DP - (active adapter using DVI cable)
I think Its the display port thats causing the problems as thats the one that is not being detected. I have tried swapping the monitors to confirm functionality and they are all working.
Windows detected the 3rd display but when i extend the desktop to the DP monitor i get the "unable to save display settings"

What am I missing???

What Kind of Modem and Service??
Okay, got a tablet, it's all he has. He's not going to get cable. He doesn't have phone service.
What are my modem options? What kind do I need? Do I only need the little tiny modem stick with the card for at home internet access? Can I use an old Westell Modem 6100 with a router for a tablet alone?

windows 7 upgrade from vista

I have another computer(a desktop) which came with Vista, for which I will be purchasing the win 7 Home Premium (upgrade version) in order to upgrade from Vista to Win 7 HP 32 bit. According to the instructions on the MS website for installing the upgrade version, everything should go smoothly, and be able to retain all programs, settings etc. and not lose anything in the process. I have checked compatibility with my existing hardware and programs, and everything I currently have is good to go. Also, more than sufficient RAM and HD space for the installation.
1. Is MS's claim about not losing anything correct, or have you had reports of anything in particular of something being compromised in the process, even though the installation went smoothly?
2. In the event something glitches and I have to call the Activation Center, can the installation still be completed with everything retained, or will it be the same as a manual install where everything is wiped, and I have to start over?

Windows 8 wont load past login screen
I have a Toshiba Satellite C850 - 1GL laptop with windows 8.1 and every time i try to load windows i get to the login screen and the laptop crashes. I cannot enter a password to access my account, restart or anything. I have to turn the laptop off with the power button.
I managed to access the bios and used a windows 8 disk, but i can't use any of the options for example automatic repair, refresh and system restore. I get a message saying the drive where windows is installed is locked. unlock the drive and try again.
I try to use the reset pc option but I get a message saying unable to reset your pc, a required drive partition is missing.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Urgent Help needed with Mac "Notes" Application
I am very new to mac.
I was using the "notes" application to write down a book ive been working on (stupid i know).
Today I decided It was really imporant I back this up.
So I highlighted about 40 pages I had written, and clicked copy, but somehow must of accidentally hit paste, and it pasted all over my work and synced immediately and I literarily lost hundreds of hours of work.....
I understand how stupid it was to type this out in notes......
I looked for a undo button but cant find one, is there any type of history anywhere with this program? i cant even begin to express how important this is.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated, can anything be done at all? This is sooooo sad.....
I dont have Time Machine or cloud, do they really not back up notes in any type of history folder?

The Sims
Hello, new here.
I have Origin for my games, Sims 3 and recently the Sims 4 Demo. Well I was visiting my dad's and I noticed the original Sims games and though you know that it would be cool to add them too, except Origin wouldn't take them. The code being on the back of the case is right I think. If there is like something else besides Origin that would allow me to download these 4 Sims games that would be great. I read up on Origin and I think its because the original Sims is so old compared to Sims 3. If you need any more information let me know, thanks for your help in advance.

LG730 Venice - BoostMobile (Sprint Network) - YouTube Not Working - 3G

I have LG730 Venice (http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-LG730-venice) and boostmobile.com is my service provider.
As of I'd say 4 or 5 months at the least, I can no longer get YouTube videos to play/stream on my phone. When I first got the phone in late December 2013, it may take a moment, but it was able to play them. Then as time went on it took longer and longer. Now I can not get them to play at all unless connected to a wifi connection. Works fine on wifi!
Wiping the phone twice. I have scanned it for virus via Avast.
I am at my wit's end here.
No my phone is not rooted.
Can anybody assist?

lost folders after reinstall incredimail
I have had incredimail for a few years and had many personal folders with personal emails and important information that disappeared after a reinstall of incredimail. The reason I reinstalled was because when I opened it up some of the incredimail areas were black. After doing a search it was recomended that i uninstall and reinstall. I have done this before and never lost anything. this time I have lost everything.the wierd thing is when it reinstalled I have emails and folders from 1 yr ago and nothing since the feb 2013. I need my folders and emails as they are needed for a court case and personal purchases that need to have the vouchers to access products. PLEASE HELP ASAP THANK YOU IN ADVANCE:o

Samsung SSD 840EVO
After reading Samsung's literature and watching two video clips with 'Ted The Expert' on how simple this SSD is to instal, I was convinced that this drive was for me so I bought one.
Order of events: I cloned the data from the Hard Drive to the SSD using their Migration Software. All seemed to be well. Then after turning the computer off, disconnecting the WD hard drive and installing the Samsung SSD, it got as far as trying to instal Windows 7, then a black screen came up and that was the end of that!
Windows 7/Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 mobo.
I have followed their instructions to the letter.
Any ideas please?

Remote Control Locking Car Keys
My electric car key suddenly stopped working - no remote central locking any more - I had to use manual locking. These keys go kaput if you fiddle with the off/on buttons a lot, have too many operations out-of-distance or the kids fiddle with them and exceed the programming tolerance, which has a limit of 55 - 250 shots dependent on the make of vehicle.
To get them going again, firstly check that the battery is up to voltage (you have to take the key to pieces for this, but it is simple), the rest is a simple matter of synchronizing.
A local dealer waffled about how difficult a problem this is, with re-programming, new chips, synchronizing etc. - oh, big problem and said it would cost GBP 165. WOW ! What a money making con-trick conveniently forced onto the vulnerable and non-technically minded majority, especially women and the elderly. It is a 99% probability that if the battery is OK, all it takes is less than two minutes sat in the car. No world shattering high-tech electronic tom-foolery, just a few simple twists, turns and button pressings to re-synchronize the electronics.
I have spent my whole life on mechanical and electronic matters and am technically minded. Not easy to con and not easy in giving up on a problem.
After a quick surf of the web to see what it is all about, the remedy was easy. There were several quite easy methods of getting these keys to work again when they have failed, no vast amount of expense, just a few seconds or minutes sat in the car. I went for this :-
Sat in the car with the door shut, inserted the key in the ignition, turned it on and of within 2 seconds.each time. Opened the door twice with the ignition turned on, then turned it off. Turned on the ignition again and pressed the lock and unlock buttons on the key together - both at the same time. The lock worked immediately. It all took about 1 minute.
Problem solved, key now works fine.

laptop failing to load

The laptop fails to load in the mornings now. Before had no problems, pressed the 'on' button and within a few seconds I was on the desktop. Now it can take several minutes to 'load'/'wake-up' and most times never does unless I have time to keep trying to get it operate. The front light will come on, the mouse lights up but the desktop view fails to follow through.
Have been told in the past to unplug the battery at night and then replug for the day. Have tried leaving PC plugged in at night but does not seem to affect it loading up in the mornings. I have windows 7 on my laptop and win 8.1 on my desktop. Do not want to lose win 7 if possible.
Anyone have any solutions to my problem?

The laptop fails to load in the mornings now. Before had no problems, pressed the 'on' button and within a few seconds I was on the desktop. Now it can take several minutes to 'load'/'wake-up' and most times never does unless I have time to keep trying to get it operate. The front light will come on, the mouse lights up but the desktop view fails to follow through.

mouse and keyboard inoperable
Dell Dimension 4550 XP Service Pack 3
This machine is not in current use but I need to recover some data from it and find that neither the mouse nor keyboard will work. I am a bit stumped to know how to proceed. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Strange net connection and latency. Terrible stability.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlmen.
I have recently been having some very bizarre and extremely frustrating issues with my connection for the past month.
I am suffering from 'latency', terrible connectivity and fluctuating speeds for the past month with my internet, where I am beginning to loose my temper.
I hard reset the router (unplug it for 15 mins then replug), it has been 5 times today to get it to hold out for awhile long enough to get some games in and browse youtube and facebook. However it never lasts long, I get behaviour like this.. when I loaded Tech Support Guy site.

The yellow triangle infront of my pc icon near my clock will appear occasioanly interrupting everything where I have to wait for it to re-connect, I tried disabling the wireless access to disconnect all devices to see if it was just the router over whelmed, it behaved the same so I reactivated it.
I have tried it plugged in and out of the BT test socket and have even confronted my ISP, they don't seem to know jack all and promise calls I have not received. So im here on my knee's it seems just hoping there is something I myself can do other than maybe throw some pressure on my ISP to up their game? I need to know really is it me or them.
I have a billion router, which is plugged into the main socket modem, I have a BT Power Line kit linked up, which up till this month has been doing fantastic! There are occassions where I cannot even access the router settings, it will just spin with an egg timer circling around to then eventually tell me there was an error loading the page.
Any suggestions?

System crash on turning on 4th display/HDTV
Hello,
I recently upgraded my CPU, GPU and mobo. I had this 4 monitor setup with the previous hardware without any issue. Since the upgrade, if I turn on the computer before the HDTV then try to turn it on, the system flashes and usually freezes. IT has recovered once and said the driver for the nvidia card had stopped working. I figured getting a video card that is basically one step up from the same manufacturer would limit these kind of problems but I guess not. Should I try rolling back the driver? or is there any other suggestions?
