Power failure
Recently we had a upcoming storm so I unplugged the computer from the wall outlet. The next day when I plugged
it in, there was a loud sound as if an electrical breaker tripped. Now I have nothing and the power led light is off. My question is, if the power shut down, did it not go into the Mthd ? And if not, should I try replacing the power
module ? Need some advise before proceeding. OS XP SP3

I am running Windows Vista which includes Windows Defender. Everything has been running normal until a couple of days ago, I noticed that when I click on the icon, down on the lower right taskbar, I get nothing but black in the window. Nothing like I used to get (Telling me that no unwanted software was present and everything was running normally). I also cannot activate my icons at top of the window. I checked my Windows security center on my control panel and all four parameters are on and normal. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. P.S. The bottom Defender icon is green with a white checkmark.

hp officejet 6110 no scan options after engaging start scan button on printer
no scan options-you need to install hp software for features-hp officejet 6110xi; dell e6500 laptop; O.S=windows 7 pro 64 bit. hp support directs me to use windows 7 drivers and then i still get this error; there no viruses/malware ect on the computer. how may i obtain the software/driver needed to resolve this problem. thank-you

Can't connect to a website from home.
One day I went to imgur.com and firefox popped up saying it was an untrusted website. I don't remember what I did, but now imgur is blocked on every browser that I have on my computer(firefox, chrome, IE). When I go to imgur the connection times out, like I don't have any internet access. However, I can use a mirror site of imgur.com. It's http://filmot.com/ but I can't log in or anything like that.
Now, I've tried everything that I can think of and everything that was recommended to me. I've cleared my temp files, edited my system 32 host file, changed my DNS settings, tried inputting imgurs IP address into the search bar, nothing I've tried worked.
So, I'm at a loss on what to do here. Imgur's my most visited website and I'd really like to start using it again.

Downloading membership file
I'm trying to download a file on a membership site, I already paid for it of course. And I have the Original Download Manager and also the VLC media player. My question is when I click on the download file the file itself will play for 9 seconds or so and then it stops and then I"ll play it again and the file that I'm downloading sometimes it will come on (image-wise)it will be stuck and the image will be there but it keeps on playing but it never downloads it.I have very good security on my computer do you think it could be that or maybe a plug-in or extension.......Thank You!....

Best Vid Card + Monitor combo for color
I have just had two computers built. The computers are amazingly fast, which is great, but now I seem a little disappointed about being able to adjust the colors to my satisfaction. This is a gaming video card. The colors may work for animated gaming color palettes, but it leaves me a bit dissatisfied and uncomfortable. So far I am trading forex charts, but I also do graphics and edit videos. I need something pretty accurate.
I think I now know all the ways to adjust the colors. I just wonder if I should have realized that there are better video card and monitor combinations depending on what you're after. I may come to the point of asking the builder to swap this card out for a better one, but I don't know where to start.
The card I have is an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT and the monitors I have are two (2) HP S2031 Wide LCD. We picked this card for speed and also because it came with the right output plug (with four pins for analog color, I believe, rather than a fin only) which I need in order to utilize my KVM switch between this and the other computer.
If you have some tips on an outstanding video card and monitor combination that provides for easily adjustable and highly accurate color, I would love to hear about it. Perhaps the problem is the card alone or the monitors alone, that is also possible...

Microsoft have announced that the Preview or Beta edition of Windows 8.1 will be released on 26 June.
The stable version is expected for release in August or September.
If you install the preview version, which it appears MAY be offered to users of 8 via the Microsoft Store, you should be aware that ALL applications installed and all downloads from the Store will be deleted.
This will not be the case when the full release of 8.1 is made available. When that is installed, it appears at this time, that all existing installations will be preserved.

Lost the sound and volume, Making everything worse. Desperate for help.
My main problem is I have some how uninstalled the sound and volume. I am also very uncomputer savvy.
I uninstalled what I thought were useless things, obviously not as immediately lost the sound and icon. Can't restore, won't work. Devise manager doesn't recognise.
I actually have made several mistakes. Computer is very very slow. Keeps coming up with end now. Google not coming up as usual server, not sure using the right word. Now have msn messaging coming up as well as bing.
Also managed to do something with the resolution and cannot reset either.
Any help, in simple terms, especially to restore the sound most appreciated.

Inkscape gives runtime error (no number but its below)
I get this error when I try to save .dxf files in Inkscape:
Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: can't initialize sys standard streams
Then it seems to recover but it doesn't really recover. It saves the files and then DraftSite won't open them. Here is what the thing says when it tried to fix the problem.

Dual boot problem - XP ptn not seen.
Hi, I have an old PC I keep for testing things, development, etc. It had copies of XP on it but I wanted to install Windows 7 (and keep XP). From a boot manager point of view it seemed better to install XP first, which I did. I set up partitions (I wanted W7 first then XP) but the XP installer seemed to want to go into the first partition. So, I installed XP in the fist partition (40GB). I then copied that partition (using a utility - Acronis Disk Dir from a Hiren CD)) to another place further down the disk, then installed Windows 7 at the start of the disk. So far so good.
However, I can't seem to get the Windows 7 boot manager to see the XP partition and add it to the boot-up list (using Bootrec from the repair disk). If I boot W7 it can see the XP partition and as far as I can see things look ok, file-wise.
Any ideas how I can make the XP partition bootable and add it inot the W7 boot manager list?

Unkown program, no file size, called "Roll" (more info)
i saw a forum about the program "ROLL" as i was reading around the forums and felt a need to post in it but the forum was closed, i know the issue was solved but i have a little bit of information on this others might like to know. the program "ROLL" is not always a virus, if you have an original version of roller coaster tycoon and you install it on a computer with windows 7 freshly installed, windows for some reason cant get the information about the game from the disk. I have seen this on almost every windows 7 PC i have loaded this game on, and it is even is on my PC. And as i said sorry about opening a post on one that has already closed but i didn't want to see people uninstalling a program the put on the computer in the first place. :)

Hi I have a sony trinitron with a DVI port in back. I am trying to get small android computer that plugs into your tv via HDMI to work.

I know the device works but i cant get picture with my HDMI to DVI adapter. I heard that these tvs might require a special sony adapter or perhaps it wont even work at all?

PSU issue? Fans run, LEDS lit, when system is not on
I hope that I am posting to proper forum topic here, but I just finished a new build with the following specs:
Asus P8Z77-V Mobo
Intel i5 3570K unlocked CPU
Xigmatek Durin D982 heatsink/fan for CPU
Asus video card - GeForce GT 640 (2GB DDR3)
16 GB RAM, Crucial Ballistix, DDR3 1600 (2x8GB)
CoolerMaster Silent Pro M 850w PSU
Toshiba 500 GB HDD 7200RPM SATA 6.0 gb/s
Asus DVD optical drive, SATA
2 case fans
In any case, my system is booting fine, and I just got Windows 8 64 bit installed, but my concern is that as soon as i flipped the switch on at the back of the power supply, it started up my fans, and both LEDS at front of case lit up. But I had not powered on system. So then i booted, and worked a little bit, and when I shut it down, the LEDS stayed lit, the fans still ran AND the fan in the PSU kept running - and did not stop until I flipped the switch at rear of PSU off again. The only fan that did not keep running was the CPU heatsink fan.
My case Fans are connected directly to the motherboards case fan connections. I have the PSU plugged in at both the 20+4 connection and the 12v 4+4 connection.
I don't know what other info you may need to be able to help me out, but does anyone know what I need to do to stop fans and turn off LEDs when I power my computer down? It is something I need to set in BIOS? I know there are a lot of power settings in there, but I figured I would ask first. Electrical issues are not ones I have any knowledge of....Any help would be great! Thanks
